At Queenswell Schools, we have an Additional Resourced Provision, Treetops, which welcomes children with autism and children with learning and cognitive difficulties. Treetops opened in September 2023 with funding for 28 children. We have 3 classes: Owl Class, Woodpecker Class and Robin Class.
In Treetops, the classes are set according to the cognitive, learning and well-being needs of our children, enabling a needs-based teaching and learning environment rather than being set by key stages.
Our provision has highly skilled and experienced staff who are passionate about creating a safe and nurturing environment where all children are enabled to achieve their next steps at their own pace. Our carefully planned curriculum inspires our pupils to achieve their full potential. We never forget the sensory needs of each and every one of our pupils and endeavour to meet their sensory needs through: daily sensory circuits, sensory work stations and individualised sensory diets.
The children have access to a quiet room and their own playground in the Treetops building, all designed to meet their needs. In the wider school, we have several outside play and learning environment areas, as well as a forest school. All children have access to mainstream classes, where appropriate, in line with their individual abilities and needs.
