Dear Parents and Carers,

Welcome back after the May Bank Holiday half-term. We hope you all had a restful break. We are looking forward to a fabulous second half to the summer term, filled with learning and fun. Below, you will find information about homework and routines, our class timetable, the year group curriculum letter and our class assembly dates. There are also links to helpful resources and websites.

Homework & Routines

Now that we have completed our SATs, the children will be continuing to learn our statutory spellings at home, in readiness for the teacher assessment for writing.

Reading at home is also crucial, and we expect children to read regularly as part of their homework. Around 30 minutes each evening is recommended.

These are our homework expectations for the final half-term:

  • Reading daily (30 minutes every day).
  • Spellings are to be learnt and will be tested throughout the week.
  • Complete Spelling Shed work.
  • Complete My Maths work.
  • Times Table Rockstars at least once a week.

Please ensure that your child brings their Reading Record into school, with a comment and signed by you each day.

Things to remember:

Children should come to school in their PE kits on their PE days. Year 6 have their PE lessons on Wednesday and must remember to bring their swimming kits with them.

PE kits should include a pair of blue or black joggers or shorts, their house t-shirt and trainers.

Important Dates:

  • Tuesday, 9th June: Sports Day at Queenswell. Parents are welcome to join and must drop off and collect from Queenswell.
  • Friday, 12th June – Ben Kinsella Knife Crime Workshop, Islington Library
  • Friday, 26th June – Junior Citizenship Morning, Finchley Youth Theatre
  • Thursday, 2nd July – Transition day to visit secondary schools for most pupils
  • Friday, 3rd July – Year 6 trip to the Natural History Museum
  • Thursday, 9th July – our production of ‘Rapunzel and the Barber Shop Bros’. Please remember to buy your tickets.

  • Thursday, 16th July – Year 6 Dinner and Dance (5-7pm)
  • Friday, 17th July: Leavers’ Assembly, 9.15-10.30

We hope the above is useful. If you have any questions or require any help, please contact me via class email year6@northsidesch.org or the class phone.

Thank you for your continued support.

Happy learning!

Kind regards,

Ms Greenhill
