Summer 1

For their Brilliant Beginning, the children worked incredibly hard on their art task, which involved creating a portrait in the style of Pablo Picasso. To introduce this, they took part in a fun and engaging game where they explored how to draw facial features—such as eyes, noses, and lips—in Picasso’s unique and abstract style. This helped them understand how faces can be represented in different and creative ways.

The children also spent time learning interesting facts about Pablo Picasso’s life, including his role as a famous artist and how his work changed the way people think about art. They were fascinated to discover how he used bold shapes, unusual colours, and different perspectives to create his portraits.

Using what they had learnt, the children showed great creativity and enthusiasm as they designed their own Picasso-inspired portraits. They experimented with shapes, colours, and positioning of features, producing imaginative and expressive pieces of artwork. It was wonderful to see their confidence grow as they explored this new artistic style.
