In Design & Technology, the Ash class explored our Year 3 mechanisms unit, learning how simple moving parts can bring a design to life. They began by investigating different types of sliders and levers, experimenting with how movement can be created in a straight line or through a pivot. The children then designed and made their own push‑pull mechanisms, applying what they had learnt about tabs, guides and stability. The unit concluded with the creation of a pop‑up book page, where pupils combined their skills to produce a moving scene that showed clear understanding of how mechanisms work. This project allowed them to be creative, practical and reflective as they tested, improved and proudly shared their final designs.
