      Past Projects

       Pond & Wildlife Garden

We transformed an overgrown, out-of-bounds 100 m² plot on our school grounds into a vibrant, safe wildlife garden and pond for both Northside pupils and the wider community.

      • Pupil-Led Pitch: Year 6 pupils played a central role in championing the scheme, pitching directly to the Barnet Area Committee to advocate for urban biodiversity, forest school learning, and local green space.

      • Funding Secured: Thanks to the children’s presentation and strong community backing, the project was awarded £50,000 in Barnet Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) funding. The PTA and school community raised an additional £4,000 for planting, with extra support from Tesco grants and the Finchley Pollinator Project.

      • Community Impact: The area now features a self-sustaining pond for dipping, a rain garden, native pollinator planting, and fruit trees. It serves as an outdoor classroom during school hours and an accessible nature haven for local groups, nurseries, and residents.
